Nana's digital camera has an interesting feature. She is able to take two photos and stitch them together as one image in her digital camera. When she takes two snapshots of the same subject (somebody's face for example), the resulting image can be pretty funny.

My arival in Guangzhou was smack in the middle of wedding season.

When the taxi dropped us off at one end of the walking street in Guangzhou Ada and I found ourselves literally walking through a bridal show.

I felt particularly underdressed.

Ada explained that my arival in China was smack in the middle of the wedding season. She nudged me back to the front of the crowd so I could take better photos. It was more than a little awkward being as that I was the tallest of the crowd I was most certainly blocking the view of somebody else. This video was taken while I uncomfortably crouched.

I told Ying that I wanted to purchase some pearls during my visit and asked her if she knew of any places with a good reputation. Ying didn't expect someone like me to make such a request. I suppose she thought that I was not the type to shop for jewelry. As it turned out she knew of a place very near the Summer Palace.

Not only was I able to buy a very nice necklace and set of earings for my mother but I got a very personal demonstration on the process of farming oysters.

Ada and I strolled along bar street which was completely infested with barkers. These guys would do anything (up to and including physical manhandling) to get people to sit at their bar versus the next one in line.

However, describing the street in this way does not really do justice to the overall scene. The streets are festively lit and each bar tries its best to differentiate itself by plunging into some sort of theme.

Ada noticed that my attention was arrested by a live band we passed. She asked if I wanted to go inside and listen. I did.

These guys really impressed me. They performed all sorts of cover songs from the grunge/alternative scene of the past 15 years. Ada seemed pretty impressed as well and asked the lead singer if they would consider doing a gig for one of her marketing events in the future.
